ARABII

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

ARABII (“we”, “us”, “the app”) helps non-native speakers learn to pronounce Arabic. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the ARABII mobile app and the pronunciation services behind it.

Plain-language summary. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Everything we collect is used to run the app and improve your learning. Data is encrypted in transit, and you can delete your account and data at any time (see arabii.app/delete-account).

1. Who we are

3. Microphone and voice recordings

The app requests microphone access only while you are actively practicing pronunciation or talking with the companion. Recordings are sent over an encrypted connection to our servers to be analyzed (pronunciation scoring and speech features). We use recordings to provide these features and to maintain and improve service quality. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; some features will not work without it.

4. How we use your data

5. Service providers we use

We share data only with processors that operate on our behalf under contract, strictly to run the app. We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising.

AI services and your consent. Some of these providers are third-party AI services. Your voice recordings are sent to our speech-scoring service (hosted on Google Cloud) to measure how you pronounce each word, and your messages and learning profile are sent to Anthropic, PBC (the “Claude” models) to generate the responses of your in-app companion, Ahmad. We ask for your explicit permission in the app before any of this data is sent to an AI service, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → Privacy. These AI providers process your data solely to deliver these features and do not use it to train their AI models.

6. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), on the basis of our legitimate interests (improving and securing the service), to comply with legal obligations, and — where required — with your consent (for example, microphone access, which your device requests).

7. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and voice recordings associated with it, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations. Aggregated or de-identified data that can no longer identify you may be retained.

8. Your rights and choices

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

9. Data security

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). We apply access controls and industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you of material incidents where required by law.

10. International transfers

We and our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Children

ARABII is intended for users aged 16 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact support@arabii.app and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice.
